Pest control lead management software is the backbone of any company that wants to scale past a handful of technicians. The right system tracks every inquiry, automates follow up, and keeps deals moving from first contact to signed agreement. Get this right and nothing slips through the cracks — no matter how many leads you generate.
I know you really love Go High Level. Can you talk about what it does?
Before I used Go High Level, I was using many different platforms to do what Go High Level can do now in one place.
I’m Jake Sheldon, co-founder of Pest Control Millionaires. I own a portfolio of home service companies including pest control, cleaning, movers, and more. And I can tell you, if you don’t know Go High Level, it is an absolutely incredible software.
Number one, it allows you to track all of your leads into one spot. Before, I had Google, Facebook, Instagram, my website, all these different platforms. And I had to check them all separately. I had to track all the leads separately.
But what Go High Level allows you to do is it puts it all into one spot so you don’t have to log into all these different areas. It puts all your leads into one place and reporting becomes very simple after that.
That’s the number one thing that I initially got onto High Level for.

ToggleThey Add New Features Daily
Over time, they progress pretty much daily at this point. They’re adding something new all the time.
And the next thing that I really like this software for is the automation aspect of things. It makes my life easier. It makes life easier for my pest control virtual assistants. It makes every team member’s job easier because I can have automated follow ups like we’ve been talking about in previous sections.
For example, a lead comes through on Facebook. I can have my Go High Level software text that lead for me instantly and let them know that we’re going to be calling, we got your information, blah blah blah.
Now my team doesn’t have to do that text manually. And that may sound simple. But when you get hundreds or thousands of leads per year, that time is important.
So that’s what we’re doing on this Go High Level platform. Just a quick little recap. It’s tracking your leads. You can automate systems. I mean, you can even do your review systems, your reactivation systems, your follow up email campaigns, pretty much anything as far as the lead nurturing process or even a current client automation process you can do in the software.
GoHighLevel Doesn't Replace Your CRM
Would you recommend that pest control owners remove their current CRM or call tracking? Or do they integrate together?
Fantastic question. So one thing that we use, in my two separate companies, I have FieldRoutes and then we have Gorilla Desk.
This software does not replace those things. So you don’t have to get rid of your current CRM for routing, servicing, anything of that nature. Actually, I would suggest against it. Keep those platforms. Those platforms are fantastic for what they do.
Now what those platforms aren’t, they aren’t quite there yet. They’re not quite there yet with lead nurturing and lead tracking and automating some of those parts of the business, those aspects.
But they are fantastic for current customers and doing your routing and scheduling, all that good stuff there.
So great question. Go High Level does not replace those platforms. You definitely want those for your routing and scheduling.
So you can use it in tandem with the existing software that you’re using.
Software Stack: What to Use For What
Here’s how the main platforms break down so you can build the right stack instead of trying to make one tool do everything:
| Tool | Use For | Don’t Use For |
|---|---|---|
| Go High Level | Lead pipelines, automated follow up, AI chatbots, call recordings, review requests | Routing, scheduling, billing existing customers |
| FieldRoutes / GorillaDesk / Jobber | Routing, scheduling, technician dispatch, invoicing, customer records after sale | Pre-sale lead nurturing, multi-source lead tracking, marketing automation |
| Mailchimp / Marketing Pro | High-volume email blasts to large lists | Two-way conversations or pipeline tracking |
| LeadFerno / Podium | Website chat-to-text widgets if you don’t use Go High Level chat | Full CRM functionality |
Use Snapshots If You're Not Techie
I feel like GoHighLevel might be too advanced for some people. Do you think a beginner, an early pest control owner, can use something like GoHighLevel?
I would suggest you either have someone who has what they call a snapshot in GoHighLevel so you don’t have to build things out yourself. Or if you’re pretty techie, then it’d be okay.
But the average pest control owner probably isn’t going to take the time to learn the GoHighLevel software. It is a little bit complex. There’s a lot of things you have to learn. And there’s new things as we both know, there’s new things every day on the software.
So I would suggest getting a snapshot from someone like us. In our program, we give snapshots away.
And I’ll give you a perfect example of what a snapshot is.
Say for example, you’re running Google Ads for pest control and pest control Facebook ads and you want some automation to go out to those people. Say they fill out a form on a Google Ad or they fill out a form on Facebook. Well, we want there to be a follow up process that’s on automation.
That could be a series of text messages and a series of emails that go out. Well, that can be complex for a beginner to build out. It might take you actually a few weeks, if not a couple months, to actually learn how to do that.
And for a lot of you, I don’t know if you’re going to want to be spending that amount of time to actually learn how to build that out.
So we give you our snapshots in our program. We teach you how to do that. It’s going to be way easier just to get them from us because we’ve already built them out.
So a snapshot is like an automation template that anyone can use. Exactly.
Upsell Campaigns Make You Money While You Sleep
What are some of the main use cases? Like you mentioned Facebook, Google Ads, are those the main two? Are there any others?
There’s many others. I mean, really you can use automation for anything or these snapshots for anything.
Another one that I see is very common is a lot of pest control owners, lawn care and service based owners in general, they aren’t upselling and cross-selling their current customers.
You’re missing out on a lot of revenue if you don’t have automated upsell campaigns going out. And you can automate this. You don’t have to sit there and text all your customers individually. You don’t have to email them all individually.
You can have snapshots. You can have those go into place and upsell your customers for you year after year without you actually having to do the work every single time.
You can set up these snapshots, these automated email templates, texting templates to do the work for you while you sit back and are getting more revenue on your current customers that already like and trust you.
So that’s a perfect example of another way you can use this software to get more revenue.
AI Chatbots Can Have Full Conversations Now
What is the extent of automation on GoHighLevel? I’m pretty sure you can send Facebook messages, you can send text messages. What really can it not do?
Oh man, especially with the new advances in AI, you can get it as complex as actually having a full on conversation with someone.
On the phone or text? Well, on the phone too. I think they’re coming out with that or is that out yet? Yeah, it’s an AI agent, an AI voice agent. They’ve come out with that.
It’s not quite there yet. I’m sure even by the time some of you are reading this, it might already be there, depending on when you’re reading this.
But it definitely has the capability to have a chatbot that can text and email back and forth with potential leads or even clients. Which is quite amazing. We’ve progressed that far in AI in a very, very short amount of time.
Another really cool thing, this might be a little high level, but it has if-else statements. So depending on how they answer, it will give a different response.
In that AI agent, your chatbot, or ChatGPT is what it connects to, will answer different depending on how they say something.
So say for example, they come through your pipeline and you ask them what kind of pest issue you’re having. The answer, the if-else statement, the answer will be different based on if they say, “I have a problem with ants,” “I’m having problems with roaches,” “I’m having a problem with termites.”
Well, your answer as a pest control owner would of course be different. So the AI bot will actually answer that question differently. So it actually learns how you would answer.
So that’s really, really high level stuff. It’s complex, but it can even do stuff that complex as well. Very, very exciting.
You Still Need Mailchimp for Volume
Talk to me about maybe some other tools. Can you just use Go High Level or should you use Zapier? I’m seeing these other tools come out.
The great thing about Go High Level is that it connects to a lot of these software. Before we used to use LeadFunnels, ClickFunnels, Zapier, Mailgun, Mailchimp.
And these are all still great software, but now they all have direct connections with Go High Level. So the only ones I use are Mailchimp and Go High Level for my software.
You can pretty much do anything in Go High Level now. And Mailchimp is for email automation.
Yep. So I use mine for email automation. Go High Level is great for email automation, but once you get to a certain level of quantity, you have to buy an outside source because it’s not great for quantity of emails.
Once your list grows large, you’ll find Go High Level isn’t built for mass email volume. Platforms like Marketing Pro or Mailchimp handle bulk sends much better, which is why we run our larger email sequences through Mailchimp.
Start With a Website Chatbot
Using something like High Level, what is one of the first things you need to automate for a pest control company?
Definitely your website. You need to have a chatbot on your website. That needs to be one of the first things you should do.
Next, you should connect your Facebook page, your Google My Business page, and your Instagram page to Go High Level as well. And you can actually automate a chatbot in there as well.
That way, whenever notifications come through, like on your Facebook page or Instagram page, you are getting notified whenever someone messages you.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen clients where they go and check their message requests on Facebook and they have like 50 people that messaged them asking for a price or what do you do.
I’m like, “Man, if you would have had that connected to Go High Level, you would have got the notification every time someone was interested in your service.”
So just to be clear, so that’s an AI chatbot that’s connected to ChatGPT and it’s having conversations with your leads?
And the cool thing about Go High Level is they have a direct integration with platforms now too. So it’s literally just a click of the button.
You go to what they call the Launchpad. The Launchpad will have your Facebook page or Google page. You just click connect. It pulls up exactly the Facebook dashboard and you just click connect your profile as long as you’re logged in to connect to your profile and it automatically links.
It’s so simple.
Most Companies Don't Follow Up Enough
I’m assuming most pest control companies don’t even have automation set up, but let’s say for the ones that do, what are some of the mistakes they’re making?
The ones that do have automation set up in their business, I would say the mistakes that people are making is just not setting up enough follow up system with their automation.
They maybe do one, maybe two follow ups. I see that’s a common mistake.
Another thing is just not utilizing the platforms to their full capability. They maybe have just their Facebook page connected, or maybe they just have their Google My Business profile connected.
I would just suggest having all of it. We just had a conversation here a second ago. Use it for all of it. You just want everything connected, everything working together simultaneously.
When you are using these platforms to the full capability, you will get the most out of them.
Start Automating Today
The bottom line is this: Go High Level consolidates everything. All your leads in one place. All your automation in one place. All your follow up sequences in one place.
It doesn’t replace FieldRoutes or Gorilla Desk. It works with them. Keep your CRM for routing and scheduling. Use Go High Level for lead nurturing and automation.
If you’re not techie, use snapshots. We give them away in our program. Pre-built automation templates for Facebook Ads, Google Ads, upsell campaigns, reactivation sequences, everything.
Start with a website chatbot. Connect Facebook, Google My Business, and Instagram. Set up automated follow ups. Use AI chatbots with if-else statements to have real conversations with leads.
